Wat does "Wassenbergh" do
The goal of the society "Wassenbergh" is the portrayal of civilians and soldiers (musicians) from the late 16th- to early 19th centuries. For that, we do a lot of research, especially on clothing, and we work on portrayals that are as authentic and period correct as possible. We visit several historical events, - or re-enactments,- each year. This is where many different groups come together to re-enact a battle or an historic event. These events take place throughout the entire year, in many different countries in- and outside Europe. Some re-enactments are small scale events, others are events in which litereally thousands of people take part.
Members of our society have been asked in the past to give demonstrations in schools, museums and even in television shows. We have given performances and demonstrations in among others the Dutch Army Museum, the Fortress Loevestein, the Archeon historical theme park, and some Dutch tv-programmes. We have also given lectures in museums an at the Royal Military Academy in Breda. Other activities include making clothing reproductions for the Hannemahuis in Harlingen, and giving historical advise to among others Dutch tv programmes and the exhibition "Napoleon, Josephine and Alexander" in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. We have been complimented on many occasion on the way we handle our demonstrations and the quality of our portrayals.
